LFS Advisory Moderates Investor Plenary Session at the 22nd MFC Annual Conference in Istanbul


On May 31st 2019 in Istanbul, Marco de Natale from LFS Advisory moderated the Investor Plenary Session at MFC’s 22nd Annual Conference – an event focused on exploring the implications of the digital revolution on financial and social inclusion, which welcomed 409 delegates representing EU bodies, MFIs, NGOs, investors and FinTechs from 46 countries across Eastern and Western Europe, Central Asia, the Caucasus and beyond.

The Investor Plenary Session, titled “Finance for Everyone: Funding Microfinance in the Age of Fintech”, explored in particular new funding mechanisms for MFIs, analyzing the case of Crowd Credit, a Japanese peer-to-peer lending platform that recently funded the Mongolian microfinance venture Ard Credit – both Crowd Credit and Ard Credit were represented at the panel, which also included managers from leading MIVs responsAbility and Symbiotics, which discussed their recent innovations in terms of engagement with the fintech sector, and product innovations to facilitate tier 2 & 3 borrowers, including an increased commitment to unhedged local currency funding, and a return of CLO structures giving exposure to MFIs globally
