AccèsBanque was founded in 11/2006 and was the first MFI in Madagascar with a commercial banking license offering the full range of financial services to the needs of the target group. Having started in urban areas, AccèsBanque is expanding its branch network into the rural areas, and is offering an agricultural loan product with currently 2.767 loans outstanding. All branches are interconnected in real-time allowing all clients to benefit from the same high-quality products. Staff is the most important asset of the bank. With this in mind, AccèsBanque has set up an Internal Training Centre, which allows the bank to offer more than 250 training days to its new and existing employees. The Bank’s equity is currently USD 4.08 million. AccèsBanque is an important provider of financial services to MSMEs in the capital Antananarivo and the surrounding regions, with overall market shares of 15% and 20% respectively. Its product range comprises micro and SME loans, agricultural loans, current accounts, saving accounts, term deposits, national money transfers, cheques in local currency, SWIFT-based international money transfer as well as remittances services in co-operation with MoneyGram. The bank currently operates 20 branches in Antananarivo and the surrounding region, and has 647 staff, of whom 220 Business Loan Officers and 158 Banking Services Officers. As of 06/2013 AccèsBanque had an outstanding loan portfolio of EUR 21 million with a PAR ˃30 of 3.22%. The MSME loan portfolio was EUR 20.4 million, of which EUR 14.5 million were micro loans and EUR 5.9 million SME loans. Deposits were EUR 22.8 million and the total number of customer deposit accounts amounted to 111 thousand. Since December 2010 ABM has been profitable, and it also bears the cost of the Management Service Contract with LFS which in the first years of the Bank was financed by TA. In 2012, ABM had a ROE of 8.67%, and it has been rated BBB- in 2011 by the internationally renowned agency Microfinanza.
LFS’s services (management, advice, training) cover all business areas of AccèsBanque, in particular: Establishment and organisation of the bank; Operational and strategic management of the bank; Building up the credit department and the branch network; Development of loan products: micro and SME loans, agricultural loans; Selection and training of loan officers and other bank staff; Building up and developing the deposit business and other products; Implementation, maintenance and further development of our software package for MSME Banks, the LFS MicroBank System®; Building up and developing marketing, internal audit and other departments. LFS provides the Bank’s top management – General Manager and Head of Credit Department – as well as Short-Term Experts in different areas like IT, MIS, HR, Internal Audit and Product Development.
