Evaluation of a leading Agricultural Finance NGO in Rwanda and Kenya

An international non-government organization that provides credit and other support services to smallholder farmers in six countries of Sub-Saharan Africa had been pre-selected for potential funding out of a German special initiative. LFS was mandated to carry out a comprehensive pre-grant due diligence of the organization including its crediting and agricultural support activities. The due diligence included on-site periods at the organization’s regional head offices in rural locations of Kenya and Rwanda.

Analysis of the organization’s financial and operational performance
Analysis of the organization’s crediting model for the financing of agricultural inputs and other products incl. solar home kits
Analysis of the market environment/landscape and regulatory conditions on a regional level
Analysis of the organization’s impact assessment framework and its environmental and social standards.
Production of reports and quantitative analysis (social return on investment, benchmark analysis, sensitivity analysis).
